New UAE national health insurance mandate means that all employers must provide health insurance for workers.

New rules that require all employers to provide health insurance for employees come into force in January 2025. Next year may seem far off but it is vital employers invest time in choosing the right insurance for them and their employees.

Until now, it was an obligation for employers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi to provide health insurance to employees and optional in the Northern Emirates of Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and Ajman. From January, all employers of private-sector staff and domestic workers must pay for health insurance coverage for their workers when issuing or renewing a visa.
